Sage's Shannon Farrell leads Gators to 6th place finish

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's and men's cross country teams were in action on Saturday competing at the Bard College Raptor Invitational. In the women's 19-team field, Albany College of Pharmacy won the event with a team score of 61, while Sage picked up sixth place with a score of 159.

In the women's race, ACP's Jessica Monzyk posted a time of 18:34 to win the 5 k race. Sage's sophomore Shannon Farrell (Indian Lake, NY/Indian Lake Central) was once again the top finisher for the Gators as she ran a time of 19:36 for the race and took home 8th place. Rookie Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) placed 17th in 20:02, while sophomore Rachael Pratt (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) finished in 35th in 21:17.

Sage senior Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 49t in 22:08, while senior Hannah Tighe (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) took home 51st in 22:24. Sophomore Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) posted a time of 59th in 22:24. Rookie Joanna Tavolaro (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) ran for the Gators as well and took 122nd in 25:39, just ahead of sophomore Julia Skoda (Philmont, NY/Taconic Hills) who ran the race in 25:48 and took 123rd place. Senior Melissa Grimaldi (Nassau, NY/Columbia) rounded out Sage's competitors in 148th in 28:20.
