Albany, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's cross country was picked third in the race for the 2016 Skyline Conference Coaches' Pre-Season Poll. Sage, which posted a third place finish at the 2015 Skyline Conference Championship a year ago, earned one first place vote and was tapped third with 95 points in the 12-team poll as conducted by the league's coaches.
Sage returns five letterwinners from last year's squad, including two of the performers that finished in the Top 20 at the 2015 Skyline Conference Championship. Hannah Tighe (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) and Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) were in the Top 20. Tighe finished in 17th with a time of 22:30.5, while Leggett finished fourth among Skyline freshmen in her 23:10.6 and took home a 20th place finish. Sage opens the 2016 campaign on September 3 travelling to SUNY-Polytechnic in Marcy, NY for the first meet of the year and will once again be led by veteran head coach Jim Bowles.
