Tighe takes fourth as Gators finish second at Green Mountain Invitational

POULTNEY, Vt. – Castleton University claimed  four of the top five finishes en route to first place in the 9th annual Green Mountain College Invitational 5K meet on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans paced the field, finishing with a team score of 20 points. Sage College claimed the runner up spot by posting a team score of 56, while Green Mountain took third place with 70 points.

Castleton's Elizabeth Bassette was the top runner in the meet finishing with a time of 20:28. Her teammates Haley Kennedy and Molly O'Callaghan claimed second and third place with times of 20:45 and 21:02, respectively.

Sage's Hannah Tighe took fourth place overall finishing the 5K distance in a time of 21:37. Castleton's Caitlin Ryan rounded out the top five runners with a time of 21:42.

Taking second and third for the Gators were Amanda Millington and Ashley Maresca with times of 22:12 and 23:00.

Finishing directly behind Maresca in sixteenth was Sagan Leggett with a 23:07.

The pack of four placing eighteenth through twenty-first was Ellyn Fisher (23:47), Lauren Belfast (23:51), Megan Lugo (23:56) and Hannah French (24:06).

Finishing under the 26-minute mark for the Gators was Aanisha Taylor (24:41), Melissa Grimaldi (25:23) and Kayla Hartman (25:23).

Rounding out the field for Sage was Kelly DiBiaso (31:19), Leanne Egan (31:40) and Michelle Tanner (39:00).

The Gators will travel to the Skyline Conference Championship on Sun., Oct. 25 at the Hudson Sports Dome in Milton, NY. The women will begin at 12:00 p.m.
