Poultney, VT---The Sage Colleges' women's cross country team was in action on Saturday afternoon at the Green Mountain College Invitational. Sage's women's team finished in fourth place in a field of seven complete teams.
Leading Sage's women's team was sophomore co-captain Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) as she posted a time of 21:13 to take 11th place at the meet.
After Krueger was Sage's sophomore Ashley Maresca (Brant Lake, NY/North Warren Central) in 22:20 to take home 18th place. Rookie Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 21st place in 22:44. Sophomore Megan Lugo (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) posted a time of 23:49 to take 32nd place.
Freshman Morgan Rush (Troy, NY/Averill Park) finished in 39th in 24:56, while freshman Ellyn Fisher (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) took 40th in 24:58. Sophomore Leanne Egan (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) finished in 41st place in 25:17, while rookie Stephanie Schmidt (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) finished in 25:12 to take 42nd place.
Sage returns to action on October 27 travelling to the 2013 Skyline Conference Championships that will be held at Van Cortlandt Park (Bronx, NY). With the women's race is at noon and the men's race followes at 1 p.m.
