RSC Wraps Up Fall at Vassar Tri-Match

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Russell Sage College concluded its campaign by dropping a pair of non-conference contests at the Vassar Tri-Match.

The Gators (7-18) opened the day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-15) sweep at the hands of the host Brewers and fell 3-1 (36-34, 25-27, 20-25, 23-25) to Marywood.

Junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) totaled a combined 29 kills, 29 digs and three aces to pace RSC. She tallied 21 kills, a season-high, and 18 digs for her tenth double-double of the season against Marywood.

Sophomore middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) added 16 total kills and six total blocks, while sophomore setter Emma Freidel (Utica, NY/New Hartford) dished out 57 assists across the seven sets.

Defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, elevated a combined 35 Vassar and Marywood attacks. The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year closed her campaign with 1,746 career digs, good for second in program records.

Freshman outside hitter Holland Kaplan topped Vassar (15-9) with 15 kills on .462 hitting in the sweep.

Senior middle hitters Casey Hagerstrom and Rebecca Klemovitch each provided Marywood (9-20) with 15 kills in the nightcap.


Gator Bites: The fall marked the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins '87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC…Cummings registered her first official win on October 6 at Elmira…Salvione registered ten double-doubles, including four in-a-row between Sept. 16-29, this autumn...She led the Gators with 2.67 kills per-set and 0.60 aces per-set...Moisidis moved into second place on the RSC career digs record book on October 27 at Houghton…Helen Putriment '14 was third with 1,700 career digs, while Alison Archambault '03 was second with 1,708…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, now with 1,746 career digs, topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
