Moisidis and Salvione Stand Out vs. Nazareth

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) registered her seventh double-double of the fall in this afternoon's 3-2 (25-23, 15-25, 14-25, 25-18, 10-15) Empire 8 Conference loss to visiting Nazareth. The newcomer from UAlbany recorded 18 kills, a career-high, 13 digs, three total blocks, and three aces in the home setback.

Defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, the reigning E8 Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, elevated 25 Nazareth (7-13/3-2 E8) attacks to move into fourth on the RSC career digs chart.  Sophomore setter Emma Freidel (Utica, NY/New Hartford) dished out 27 assists.

Junior setter/right side Tessa Grover filled up the box score with a triple-double of 10 kills, 16 assists, and 16 digs for the victors.

RSC (6-14/1-5 E8) caps the home portion of its slate on Wednesday at 6:00 PM vs. Hartwick. The E8 contest will serve as the program's "Senior Night".


Notes: The fall marks the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins '87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC…Cummings registered her first official win on October 6 at Elmira…Salvione entered the weekend leading the Gators in kill per-set (2.27) and digs per-set (3.88)…She has registered seven double-doubles, including four in-a-row between Sept. 16-29, this autumn…Moisidis surpassed 1,500 career digs on Sept. 9 at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational...She is now fourth in school annals with 1,684 career digs…Helen Putriment '14 is third with 1,700 career digs, while Alison Archambault '03 sits second with 1,708…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
