Gators Deliver Cummings First Official Win

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College delivered Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings her first official victory with tonight's 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12) Empire 8 Conference triumph at Elmira.

RSC used a team effort to provide the milestone win. A quartet of Gators had at least eight kills, while six RSC players recorded five or more digs.

Junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) led the way with 13 kills and 19 digs for her sixth double-double of the fall.

Sophomore middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) added 11 kills on .471 hitting and totaled eight blocks.

Sophomore setter Mia Wood (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) also achieved a double-double, passing out 25 assists and elevating 11 Elmira attacks, while defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, the reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, tallied 13 digs.

Junior outside hitter Maddie Boucher paced Elmira (6-11/0-3 E8) with 15 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Asia Curkendell contributed 40 assists and 13 digs in defeat.

RSC (6-11/1-2 E8) snapped an eight-game slide with tonight's road victory.  The Gators play at Alfred tomorrow at 1:00 pm.


Notes: The fall marks the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins '87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC…Salvione began the week leading the Gators in kill per-set (2.35) and digs per-set (3.98)…She's registered six double-doubles, including four in-a-row between Sept. 16-29…Moisidis surpassed 1,500 career digs on Sept. 9 at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational...She entered the weekend fifth in school annals with 1,622 career digs…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
