Gators Feature Balanced Offense vs. Bard

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College had four players register five or more kills in tonight's 3-1 (26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 25-16) non-conference loss to visiting Bard.

Junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) led the way with eight kills, with junior outside hitter Katherine Jepsen (Hudson, NY/Hudson) and senior right side Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) adding seven kills apiece.

Sophomore setter Mia Wood (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) registered 14 assists and 14 digs for her first collegiate double-double, while defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, the reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, topped all participants with 18 digs.

Sophomore middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) totaled five kills and four blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) aced five serves.

Senior outside hitter Ryan Lum recorded 10 kills and 12 digs to help Bard (9-11) pickup the road victory.  Senior setter Adi David tallied 27 assists and 12 digs to also achieve a double-double.

RSC (5-11) plays next at Elmira on Friday at 7:00 pm.


Notes: The fall marks the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins '87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC… Salvione began the week leading the Gators in kill per-set (2.35) and digs per-set (3.98)…She registered five double-doubles, including four in-a-row between Sept. 16-29…Moisidis surpassed 1,500 career digs on Sept. 9 at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational...She entered the week fifth in school annals with 1,604 career digs…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
