Gators Wrap Up E8 Slate at Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Russell Sage College wrapped up its Empire 8 Conference regular season by losing 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21) this afternoon at Keuka.

Middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane), a graduate student, who was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday, topped the Gators with 11 kills on .321 hitting.  Junior outside hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added seven kills, while senior libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), the E8 leader in digs and digs per-set, totaled 27 digs. Junior setter Statia Walker (Schodack, NY/Maple Hill), who dished out the 1,000th assist of her career earlier this fall, registered her 12th double-double of the fall in the E8 matinee. She recorded 23 assists and 11 digs.

Junior outside hitter Dayna Edholm paced Keuka (8-15/4-5 E8) with a double-double of 12 kills and 16 digs. Junior setter Casey Hunziker distributed 29 helpers, while junior libero Emma Sipos elevated 26 RSC attacks.

Looking ahead, the Gators (4-21/1-8 E8) play next on Tuesday night at Nichols. The non-conference action is set to begin at 7:00 pm.


Notes: Gagnon was named the E8 Co-Player of the Week on Monday...She totaled 30 kills, 4.29 per-set, on .400 hitting, and five aces across a pair of E8 contests vs. Elmira (10/14) and Alfred (10/15)...Moisidis averaged 8.1667 digs per-set against this weekend...The program has seen many career milestones achieved this fall...Head coach Sandy Augstein-Collins, now in her 13th season coaching at RSC and 26th overall, picked up her 375th career victory on September 14 vs. SUNY Cobleskill…Moisidis, who topped the Empire 8 Conference with 492 digs, 4.82 per-set, last fall, became the 15th RSC player to surpass 1,000 career digs on September 10 at the SUNY New Paltz Tournament…She closed the day sixth in program records with 1,339 career digs…Walker dished out the 1,000th assist of her career on September 30 at St. John Fisher…She finished the contest sixth in school annals with 1,205 career assists…The setter has tallied a dozen double-doubles this season…Gagnon surpassed 500 career kills on October 14 vs. Elmira…She now sits 15th among Gators with 541 career kills.
