ANNADALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y. – Russell Sage College returned to the win column with tonight's 3-2 victory at Bard (22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13).
Three Gators totaled double-digit kills in the non-conference triumph. Middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane), a graduate student, led the way with 13 kills on .367 hitting and four aces.
Junior outside hitter Sydney Shepard (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) added 11 kills on .281 hitting, while junior right side Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) finished off ten rallies.
Junior setter Statia Walker (Schodack, NY/Maple Hill) registered her eighth double-double of the fall, dishing out 36 assists and elevating 12 Bard attacks. Senior defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), who eclipsed 1,000 career digs earlier this month, totaled 22 digs, while junior defensive specialist Haely Russell (Waterford, NY/Waterford Halfmoon) recorded 10 digs and four aces.
Junior outside hitter Ryan Lum paced the Raptors (3-7) with 17 kills on .204 hitting and 21 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Ella Small tallied 25 digs, while junior setter Adi David distributed 43 assists.
Looking ahead, the Gators (3-11) host Houghton on Friday night. The Empire 8 Conference opener is set to begin at 7:00 pm.
Notes: Head coach Sandy Augstein-Collins, picked up her 375th career victory on September 14 vs. SUNY Cobleskill…She began her 13th season coaching at RSC and 26th overall, with 373 career wins…Seven players, including Moisidis, Walker, and Gagnon, returned to the program…Moisidis, who topped the E8 with 492 digs, 4.82 per-set, last fall, became the 15th RSC player to surpass 1,000 career digs earlier this month.
