Gators Upended 3-0 by New Jersey City

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College began its weekend at the Skidmore Classic by falling to New Jersey City 3-0 tonight.

Senior middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane) topped the Gators with 10 kills on .382 hitting. Sophomore right side Statia Walker (Schodack, NY/Maple Hill) recorded 23 assists, while junior defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany) registered 18 digs.       

Freshman outside hitter Rachael Pharo led New Jersey City with 15 kills on .582 hitting. Sophomore setter Sydney Lore added a double-double of 32 assists and 13 digs.

Looking ahead, Sage (4-12) and NJCU (9-2) will both face MCLA and Skidmore tomorrow. Game times are set for 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.


Notes: Gagnon and  senior outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) and began the week among the E8 leaders in points per-set… Gagnon ranked seventh with 3.11 points per-set, while Parkington was eighth with 3.05 points per-set... Parkington recorded her 500th career kill on Saturday, September 11 at SUNY New Paltz…The co-captain, currently with 609 career kills, has 13 career double-doubles, four of which came this season… Moisidis, who has been in double figures in digs for all but two of the matches this fall, ranked third in the conference with 4.61 digs per-set...She registered her 500th career dig on Saturday, September 11 at SUNY New Paltz...The RSC libero currently has 676 digs in her time as a Gator…Walker has contributed seven double-doubles this fall.
