RSC Upended 3-1 at Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College was upended 3-1 at Keuka in tonight's Empire 8 Conference game. The Gators (5-15/1-3 E8) fell by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16.

Senior outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) recorded 11 kills and 11 digs for her second-straight double-double in the setback. The co-captain, who totaled four blocks, now has 17 career double-doubles, seven of which have come this fall.

Senior middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane) contributed seven kills, four aces and four total blocks, while sophomore middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson) registered six kills on .357 hitting.

Junior defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), the conference-leader in total digs, elevated 22 Keuka attacks, while sophomore right side Statia Walker (Schodack, NY/Maple Hill) achieved a double-double of 18 assists and 11 digs.

Keuka (6-11/2-3 E8) received a double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs from senior outside hitter Lillian Mueller. Sophomore right side Megan McCann added 15 kills on .481 hitting, while senior defensive specialist Lauren Kulpers recorded 23 digs.

After the Wolves took the opening two sets, RSC closed the third stanza on a 6-0 run to extend the match. Carius finished off a pair of rallies with kills, while Gagnon aced two serves during the stretch. Keuka used a 9-1 jaunt to wrap the contest up in four sets.

Both teams have E8 matches tomorrow afternoon. Sage, closing the regular season with eight of the final nine matches on the road, plays at Houghton at 2:00 pm. Meanwhile, Keuka hosts Hartwick at noon.
