Gators Fall 3-0 at Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College senior middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane) and senior outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) combined for 17 kills in this afternoon's 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-17) Empire 8 Conference loss at Houghton. Gagnon (above) recorded nine on .207 hitting, while Parkington registered eight kills and eight digs.

Sophomore right side Statia Walker (Schodack, NY/Maple Hill) contributed 20 assists and 11 digs for her third-straight double-double, while junior defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), the E8 leader in digs, elevated 17 Highlander attacks.

Houghton (7-6/3-2 E8) received a double-double of 13 kills and 14 digs from freshman outside hitter Julie Immel. Senior setter Haley Unverdorben totaled 31 assists, while junior libero Rebekah Clark accumulated 24 digs.

Looking ahead, both teams have road games up next. Sage (5-16/1-4 E8) continues to put the miles on the Premiere buses, playing at MCLA on Thursday night. The non-conference game is set to start at 7:00 pm.  Houghton (7-6/3-2 E8) visits St. John Fisher, currently sitting atop the conference E8 standings, on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.


Notes: Sage plays eight of its final nine matches of the regular season on the road...Parkington and Gagnon are tied for seventh in the E8 with 3.13 points per-set...Parkington recorded her 500th career kill on Saturday, September 11 at SUNY New Paltz…The co-captain, currently with 667 career kills, has 17 career double-doubles, seven of which came this season…Moisidis who registered her 500th career dig on Saturday, September 11 at SUNY New Paltz, tops the E8 with 399 digs…She leads the conference with 4.87 digs per-set...The RSC libero currently has 776 digs in her time as a Gator…Walker has contributed ten double-doubles this fall.
