Nethaway and Class honored by Empire 8

Hilton, NY—Sage's women's volleyball team had a pair of performers saluted with the release of the 2019 Empire 8 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Teams on Monday.  Graduate performer Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville) was honored as a middle hitter on the Honorable Mention Team, while senior Caitlyn Class (Waterford, NY/Waterford Halfmoon) was selected to the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.

On her 2019 season, Nethaway racked up 182 kills with a 2.14 kills per set average. She added a team-best 58 total blocks (0.68 blocks per set) with a .214 attack percentage along with 217.5 points. Overall in her time at Sage, she collected 529 career kills, which ranks 15th best at Sage. She also 229 career total blocks that stands fifth best. She had 684.0 career points in 291 sets played over the course of 85 matches. She tallied 166 career digs and also finishes with a 1.82 career kills per set average that ranks 14th all-time at Sage.

Class was a four-year letterwinner at Sage and served the 2019 team as a captain. She was named the 2017-2018 recipient of Sage's Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award and played in 45 career matches at Sage. She  worked in 73 sets and wrapped her 2019 season having played in 41 with 30 kills, 15 digs and total blocks.
