Alvarado adds game-winner as Gators beat Hartwick, 2-1

Albany, NY—Sage's men's soccer team hosted Hartwick College on Friday night at ACP Stadium. Sage posted a 2-1 win to improve 8-7, while Hartwick drops to 3-11. Sage's sophomore back Giddel Alvarado (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) added the game-winning goal and assisted on Sage's other score to finish with three points in the contest.

Sophomore Kevin Winglosky (Schodack, NY/Ichabod Crane) score the first goal at 29:31 on a feed from Alvarado to give the Gators a 1-0 lead. Less than one minute later, Hartwick's rookie forward Joey Bertone (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) tied the action with his goal at 30:24.

The two team played with a 1-1 score for the nearly 40 more minutes before Alvarado added the game-winner at 69:55 off a perfect service off a corner kick from the right side for his third goal of the season.

Sage's sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) made three saves and is 8-7 on the year. Hartwick's sophomore keeper Aidan Wholihan (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's Annapolis) drops to 2-5 after making seven saves in the goal.

Sage is back in action hosting Union College on October 29 in a 5 p.m. non—conference game at ACP Stadium. Hartwick returns to action on October 29 hosting SUNY-Geneseo in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
