Gators fall in E8 Action to Elmira, 3-1

Elmira, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Elmira College on Friday night for an Empire 8 match with the Soaring Eagles. Elmira collected a 3-1 win over Sage to improve to

9-12 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8. Elmira won the first set, 25-17, but Sage took the second set 25-22 but could not manage the win as they dropped the third set, 25-10 and the final set, 25-8. Sage drops to 4-18 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8.

Sage's senior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) added a double-double as she had 10 kills with 16 digs. She added an ace with a .903 receiving percentage and tallied 12.0 points in the match.

Sophomore tri-captain Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) tallied eight kills and eight digs, while connecting on a .929 receiving percentage with only one error in 13 attempts.

Senior Desiree Suits (Nelliston, NY/Fort Plain) had seven digs with an ace in the action.  Junior right side Renee Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) compiled six kills with a dig and a block assists for Sage.

Junior defensive specialist Ashley Hintz (Kingston, NY/Kingston) had 11 digs in the match, while sophomore setter Francesca Gigliotti (Dalton, MA/ Wahconah Regional) racked up 20 setting assists with eight digs.

Sage hosts Hartwick College on October 12 at 2 p.m. in Kahl Gym in conjunction with Senior Day.
