Sage volleyball splits at Fall Festival as Parkington and Nethaway earn All-Tournament Acclaim

SAGE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS RESULTS AT SAGE FALL FESTIVAL

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Red Dragons of Oneonta State and the Vikings of Salem State University on Saturday in the final day of the Sage Fall Festival. Oneonta State posted a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-21, 25-11), while the Gators beat Salem State, 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-13). With the 1-1 day on Saturday, Sage is now 2-12 on the year.

Against Oneonta State, Sage's senior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) picked up six kills and 7.0 points after she added nine digs. Sophomore Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) added six kills with nine digs and an ace. Graduate player Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville) chipped in four kills with two digs and was 8-0 with no receiving errors in the match. Junior setter Brooke Monty (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) had 12 digs to the Gators, while adding 11 setting assists. Junior defensive specialist Ashley Hintz (Kingston, NY/Kingston) added nine digs as well for the Gators. Rookie defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany) had seven digs and had no reception errors in her eight attempts.

Against Salem State, Nethaway led the way with her 11.5 points and 11 kills with a .381 attack percentage. She also had one block assist as Sage combined to hit .287 in the match and limit the Vikings to a .071 attack percentage. Parkington racked up 15 digs with five kills, an ace and a solo block for Sage. Ryder connected for seven kills with a .292 attack percentage and 12 digs with a pair of aces as Sage added eight aces in the match.  Moisidis added 10 digs and sophomore setter Francesca Gigliotti (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) picked up six digs with seven setting assists. Senior captain Caitlyn Class (Waterford, NY/Waterford-Halfmoon) had a .429 attack percentage after connecting for four kills with a block assist.  Sophomore Alexys Hutchins (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added five kills with a .571 attack percentage to go with her two block assists and a dig.

Nethway now has 443 career kills and stands in No. 19 at Sage having moved ahead of Kristiana Leniart (1998-2001) who had 430 career kills at Sage. She is also is No. 5 with her 206 career total blocks at Sage in 73 career matches played in a Gator uniform. Ryder tallied her 600th career dig on Saturday in 75 matches played and now has 376 career kills.

Sage is back in action on Tuesday, September 24 travelling to SUNY-Cobleskill for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
