Skidmore takes match from the Gators in first match of Sage Fall Festival

SKIDMORE BESTS SAGE 3-0 IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ACTION

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College in the first match of Sage's Fall Festival. Skidmore improves to 4-5 after beating Sage, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-15), while Sage drops to 1-11.

Graduate player Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville) led the Gators with her 10.0 points as she added nine kills with a dig and a pair of block assists.

Sage's senior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) picked up 14 digs with an ace, a kill and was perfect with no reception errors in 13 attempts. Junior setter Brooke Monty (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) had nine setting assists with six digs. Rookie defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany) had 16 digs with only one reception error in 20 attempts.

Senior Skylar Van Alstyne (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) added four kills with a .300 attack percentage, while sophomore Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) added four kills with six digs and a pair of block assists.

Skidmore got nine kills from junior middle hitter Katy Ehnstrom (Kaneohe, HI) as she racked up 10 points and added one dig with two block assists. Rookie Alex Etsy (La Jolla, CA) had a .500 attack percentage to go with her six kills, three digs, an ace and 8.5 points. Sophomore outside hitter Zoe Beals (Sandy Hook, CT) added seven kills, while senior Sophia Hettler (New York, NY/Columbia Prep) added 13 digs with five kills, an ace and had no reception errors in 12 attempts.  Rookie defensive specialist Frida Anguiano (Birmingham, AL) added 13 digs with two aces, a kill and just one reception error in 18 attempts for the Thoroughbreds as they combined for a .228 attack percentage and had five aces and held the Gators to a 0.028 attack percentage in the match.

Sage is back in action on Saturday, September 21 hosting the Sage Fall Festival with Skidmore, Elms, Oneonta State, and Salem State all visiting Kahl Gym. Sage takes on Oneonta State at noon and Salem State at 4 p.m.
