Sage falls on the road to Wells and Ramapo

Mahwah, NJ—Sage's women's volleyball team travelled to New Jersey on Saturday for a non-conference tri-match at Ramapo College. The Gators came up short against Wells, falling 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-23). In the nightcap, Ramapo earned the win as well (3-0, 25-10, 25-19, 25-14).

Against Wells, rookie outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) led the Gators with her six kills with nine digs. She added two block assists with 12 setting assists.

Junior middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville Central) also racked up six kills with two digs. Freshman defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) tallied three aces with 11 digs, and had just one receiving error on 17 attempts for a .944 receiving percentage.

Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Rowell (Morrisonville, NY/Beekmantown) earned seven digs with three kills as well in the match.

Against Ramapo, Rowell had five kills, while Parkington added four kills. Parkington also had eight setting assists with nine digs and a block assist.  Nethaway had two aces with four kills and six digs. Junior Lidia LoPorto (Troy, NY/Averill Park) collected 13 digs, while junior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) added a team-best 19 digs in the match.

The Gators will return to action on Tuesday, October 16 hosting Skidmore College in a 7 p.m. non-conference match in Kahl Gym.
