Banner night for Gators propels team past MCLA, 3-2

North Adams, MA—Sage's women's volleyball team came up with a road win over the Trailblazers of MCLA on Wednesday night. The win puts Sage at 5-13, while MCLA falls to 6-10. The Gators triumphed with a match score of 3-2 over MCLA, winning 25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-11.

Rookie outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) led the Gators with her 14 kills and a .250 attack percentage. She also finished with 23 setting assist with two aces. She led the players with her 20 points as she also had six total blocks with nine digs.

Junior middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville Central) racked up eight kills with four digs, and six block assists. Nethaway leads the Gators with her 52 total blocks this fall, elevating her career total to 146 and puts her in sole possession of the No. 10 spot on the career block list at Sage.

Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Rowell (Morrisonville, NY/Beekmantown) turned in a performance that included four kills and eight digs, while junior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) added eight kills with two aces, two block assists and an impressive 17 digs. She was also a perfect 25-0 in receiving attempts in the match.

Freshman defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) had 15 digs in the match with one ace and a kill, while rookie Ani Crocker (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Central Catholic) had 13 digs with only one receiving error in 11 attempts for a .917 receiving percentage.   

The Gators will return to action on Saturday, October 6 hosting Alfred University and St. John Fisher College in an Empire 8 tri-match with matches at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Kahl Gym.
