Volleyball team posts sweep of Cobleskill en route to 3-0 win

Albany, NY—Sage's women's volleyball team hosted the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill on Wednesday night in a non-conference match.  Sage posted the 3-0 win topping Cobleskill, (25-22, 25-19, 26-24) and improves to 4-10, while the Fighting Tigers drops to 1-11.

Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Rowell (Morrisonville, NY/Beekmantown) racked up nine kills with a .269 attack percentage and added six digs with three block assists to pace the Gators.  Rookie outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional), this week's Empire 8 Rookie of the Week, added eight kills with 21 setting assists, 13 digs and an ace.  Sophomore right side Renee Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) picked up seven kills with her .353 attack percentage, while junior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) led all players with her 23 digs.

Junior middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville Central) chipped in with six kills and eight digs, while sophomore setter Brooke Monty (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) had nine setting assists with two aces and four digs. Rookie middle hitter Alexys Hutchins (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added five kills with three blocks assists in the Gators' win.

Cobleskill's rookie middle hitter Jillian Nitchman (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) picked up seven kills in the match with a .375 attack percentage. Junior Megan Brewer (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) added six kills with four digs in the action.  Junior libero Mikayla Catherman (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) added a team-best 14 digs in the match with a pair of kills.  

The Gators will return to action on Saturday, September 29 travelling to the University of Southern Maine for a tri-match with Keene State. Sage will be in action at 2 p.m. against Keene State and 4 p.m. against USM. SUNY-Cobleskill will be in action on September 29 at Wells College in a NEAC match.
