Sage falls in five sets to Mountaineers

Bennington, VT—The Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College hosted Sage in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Monday night. The match would go the distance as it went five sets. The Mountaineers emerged the victor, topping Sage 3-2 (22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 12-25, 15-13) and are now 10-1 on the year. Sage falls to 3-7 on the year.

In a see saw battle, Sage had a number of strong performances on Monday night. Junior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) added nine kills with 31 digs and finished with 10.5 points.  Rookie outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) added nine kills as well with 17 setting assists, three aces, six digs and five total blocks and led Sage with her 15.0 points.

Junior middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville Central) had seven digs with two aces, three kills, and five total blocks.  Rookie defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) added 18 digs in the action, while sophomore setter Brooke Monty (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) had 12 setting assists with two aces and eight digs. Rookie Ani Crocker (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs Catholic) added seven digs for the Gators in the match.

The Gators will return to action on Wednesday, September 19 hosting Hartwick College in an Empire 8 match commencing in Kahl Gym at 6 p.m.
