Sage falls at Union with New Paltz

Schenectady, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball travelled to Union College on Friday night for a tri-match with Union College and SUNY-New Paltz. The Gators dropped a pair on Friday, falling to Union, 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-14) and New Paltz, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-22).

Against New Paltz, rookie outside hitter Gabby Rowell (Morrisonville, NY/Beekmantown) had five kills with six digs, while senior Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added two kills with 10 setting assists, an ace and eight digs. Senior libero Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) tallied 12 digs for Sage against the Hawks.

In the nightcap with Union, sophomore middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville Central) chipped in with four kills, while Rowell had five kills with five digs and a block assist. Nellis had 11 digs with a kill and six setting assists. Schneiderman had nine digs for the Gators.

Nellis and Schneiderman continue to move their names and career numbers up the Gator record book. Nellis now has 472 career kills, putting her in 16th on the list. She is also now 5th in career blocks (189), while her 416 career setting assists is ninth best. She is also climbing the single-season record book as she is currently 11th with her 70 blocks on the 2017 season. Schneiderman has 1,417 career digs and currently fifth on the Sage dig list, while adding 131 career aces and is 12th.

The Gators return to play on October 28 travelling to Skidmore College for a tri-match with Skidmore and Potsdam State.
