Volleyball Team collects key win over SUNY-Cobleskill on the road

Cobleskill, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team collected a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) over the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill on Wednesday night. With the win, the Gators are now 5-10.

Leading the way for Sage was senior captain Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) as she had an impressive evening with her 10 kills and a .526 attack percentage. She added nine digs with a solo block and paced the team with her 12 points in the contest.  She also handed out 15 setting assists, while junior setter Britany Orminski (Galway, NY/Galway) added 19 setting assists.

The Gators' rookie outside hitter Gabby Rowell (Morrisonville, NY/Beekmantown) tallied seven kills with 10 digs while sophomore middle hitter Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville) also added seven kills with five total blocks in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Carrozzi (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) picked up nine kills in the match with four digs.

Senior libero Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) also had 10 digs the match for the Gators.

Schneiderman now has 1,199 career digs and is now in the No. 6 spot on the career list as she moved ahead of Kelli Jones (2006-2008, 1,198). Nellis collected her 400th career kill in the action and now has 406, which ranks 20th best all-time at Sage, while standing ninth all-time with her 156 career blocks.

Sage is back in action on September 23 as they travel to St. John Fisher for an Empire 8 tri-match with Alfred University marking the first conference matches for Sage as a member of their new conference.
