Volleyball honors Seniors on Saturday in Skyline Tri-Match

Albany, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College and the Golden eagles of St. Joseph's College-LI on Saturday in conjunction with Senior Day. Sage posted a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-14, 25-17) in the first match over SLC.  In the final match, the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College-LI beat Sage, 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-17, 17-7) putting Sage at 16-17 overall and 8-3 in the Skyline.

Against Sarah Lawrence, senior Sara Campolieta's (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) connected for 10 kills with a .240 attack percentage. She added four digs with a pair of block assists, while junior Alyssa Neillis' (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added eight kills with five digs and a pair of block assists. Senior outside Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) picked up five kills with one dig, while senior Devyn Morlock (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) added three aces with seven digs.

Junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) had nine digs as well, while graduate performer Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added three digs with two aces. Senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) amassed 22 setting assists with 10 digs and two aces. Sophomore outside hitter Amelia Taylor (Fort Edward, NY/Fort Edward) also had 3 kills in the competition, while rookie Nicole Groll (Southington, CT/Southington) finished with 15 digs.   

Against the Golden Eagles Sage's Missy Schneiderman collected her 1,000th career dig, becoming the 14th player in program history to achieve the feat and putting her at 1,006 career digs after Saturday's matches.

Berard led the team in the nightcap with her impressive 17 kills, while connecting for 3 blocks and 8 digs. Rimawi picked up 17 digs and had a pair of aces and kills in the contest. Nellis finished with 6 kills and 3 aces, while Campolieta added 10 digs with 9 kills. Liebig added 6 digs and 35 setting assists as well while Morlock tallied 5 digs with an ace.

With every match this season, the 2016 Gators are attacking the program's record book. After tonight's matches Berard has 945 career kills, which ranks No. 6 all-time at Sage. She also boasts 163 career total blocks, moving her into No. 7 in the list. Liebig, who is a CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee, now has 3,266 career setting assists which No. 2 at Sage, while also adding 200 career aces to her resume. She is fourth in career aces. Campolieta has 535 career kills and is 13th at Sage, while her 901 career digs puts her 18th on the career list. 

Sage must now await the 2016 Skyline Conference tournament pairings that will be announced late Sunday night.
