Gators rebound to take a 3-1 win over Trailblazers

North Adams, MA–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team traveled to face the Trailblazers of MCLA on Tuesday night and collected a 3-1 win (20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-18). Sage improves to 8-14, while MCLA drops to 9-10. Sage started slow and fell behind 19-7 in the opening set.  They would come storming back, but ultimately MCLA took the opener 25-20.  Sage would then take the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-18 to secure the win.

Senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) racked up a team-best 12 kills in the action with eight digs and a block assist. Senior tri-captain Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) added a double-double as she added 18 digs with 11 kills, two aces and two blocks for the Gators, while junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for 12 digs with two aces.

Senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 30 setting assists with three kills and 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Amelia Taylor (Fort Edward, NY/Fort Edward) added 4 kills as well in the contest.

Liebig now has 2,933 career setting assist, ranking her No. 3 all-time at Sage and her 182 career aces also stands No. 4 at Sage.  Berard who ranks in both career kills and blocks at Sage now has 805 career kills and stands No. 7 all-time in kills. She has 143 career total blocks is in sole possession of the No. 8 spot at Sage. Schneiderman now has 882 career digs and is No. 17 at Sage on the career record book.

Sage is back in action on October 9 when they host Purchase College and Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference tri-match at Kahl Gym in Albany with matches at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
