Sage tops Hartwick in epic battle, 3-1

Albany, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Hawks of Hartwick College on Tuesday night at Kahl Gym in a non-conference match.  Sage posted a 3-1 win to improve to 7-10, while Hartwick falls to 5-9. Sage wo the first set, 25-20, but fell in the second set to Hartwick 25-23. Sage won the third set 25-18 and the final set, 25-22.

Sage's senior tri-captain Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) just missed a double-double as she had 16 kills with nine digs. She added five aces in the match-up and led the Gators with her 21.5 points.

Senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) had a match-high 17 kills, while leading all Sage players with her .417 attack percentage. She finished with one block assist and 17.5 points. Rookie middle hitter Lauren Ferrucci (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbons) added six kills with a .308 attack percentage.

Graduate player Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) connected for 25 digs with two aces and two kills, while junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for 22 digs. Senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 44 setting assists with six digs and an ace.

Hartwick's junior right side Rosa Maunn (Redstone, CO) added 15 kills for the Hawks with two digs, while senior outside hitter Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing) paced Hartwick with 12 kills and 17 digs for a double-double in the contest.

Sophomore setter Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) added 39 setting assists with 16 digs, two kills, and an ace, while senior libero Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH) added two aces with 15 digs.

By night's end, Liebig had elevated her career resume to include 2,854 career setting assist, ranking her No. 3 all-time at Sage, while her 176 career aces stand No. 7 all-time. Berard who ranks in both career kills and blocks at Sage now has 770 career kills and stands No. 7 all-time in kills. She has 141 career total blocks is in sole possession of the No. 8 spot at Sage. Schneiderman now has 851 career digs and is No. 19 at Sage on the career record book.

Sage is back in action on September 30 visiting Skidmore College for a 5 p.m. match with the Thoroughbreds in Saratoga Springs, NY.
