Sage Women's Volleyball Wraps action at New Paltz Tournament

New Paltz, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to SUNY-New Paltz on Saturday facing two opponents on the final day of the Hawk Invitational. The Gators faced Fredonia in the first match on the afternoon, but fell, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) and then met the Ducks of Stevens in the final match of the weekend, dropping the match, 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-11). Sage is now 2-6 on the season.

Against Fredonia State, senior outside hitter and team tri-captain Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) tallied 19 digs with seven kills. Graduate performer Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added three aces with four kills, while sophomore outside hitter Amelia Taylor (Fort Edward, NY/Fort Edward) picked up four kills.

Sage's senior tri-captain, setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 23 setting assists, while senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) amassed four kills.  Rookie defensive specialist Nicole Groll (Southington, CT/Southington) added nine digs for the Gators in the match.

Against Stevens, Sage's Campolieta added five kills and nine digs, while Rimawi added seven digs. Junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for seven digs in the action.

Sage is back in action on September 14 at SUNY-Polytechnic for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
