Banner night for Gators as they post win win over SUNY-Delhi

Albany, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Broncos of SUNY-Delhi on Wednesday night in the team's 2016 home opener. Sage posted a 3-0 win in the match as they beat the Broncos, 25-19, 25-12, 25-19 and are now 2-2 on the year, while SUNY-Delhi falls to 0-5.

Sage's senior tri-captain, setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 27 setting assists and racked up her 2,500th setting assist in the match. She now has 2,514 career setting assists and joins an exclusive club at Sage as she is one of just three Gators to have achieved the feat and stands No. 3 all-time at Sage.

Liebig, who earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors for her play on opening week added four digs with a kill and an ace. Liebig also has 165 career aces and is No. 8 all-time as well on the career list.

Sage's senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) picked up 14 kills with an added a .333 attack percentage with four digs. She now has 702 career kills and is No. 8 all-time on the Gators' career list.

Junior Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added six kills and had a .455 attack percentage, while connecting for two block assists.

Senior outside hitter and team tri-captain Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) added 10 digs with three aces, while junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for 11 digs.

Sage is back in action on September 9 and 10 at the SUNY-New Paltz Invitational. The Gators will take on SUNY-New Paltz on September 9 at 2 p.m. and NYU at 6 p.m., while facing Stevens and Fredonia State on September 10 in matches at 3 and 5 p.m., respectively.
