Gators wrap action at Oswego Tournament on Saturday

Oswego, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team competed twice on Saturday in the final day of the Oswego State Invitational. Sage dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Lakers in the morning contest (25-19, 25-18, 25-20) and then dropped a heartbreaker to the Angles of the College of New Rochelle, 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-4). Sage stands at 1-2 on the young season and returns to action on September 7 hosting SUNY-Delhi in Kahl Gym at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Against Oswego, senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) tallied 29 setting assists, while senior outside hitter Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) led the team with seven kills. Junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for 19 digs, while senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) picked up six kills.

In the second match-up with the College of New Rochelle, Sage's Campolieta added 10 kills, while Berard added eight kills. Liebig connected for 39 setting assists and already has 113 on the season, elevating her career resume to include 2,488 career setting assists as she stands No. 3 all-time on the career list.

Berard is making her mark on the Gator career kill list as she moved from No. 10 to No. 9 on Saturday moving ahead of Kellie Jones (2006-2009, 675) and now has 694, just nine shy of moving into No. 8 which is currently held by Elizabeth Roberts (2002-2005) with 702.

Schneiderman tallied 18 digs against CNR, while rookies Lauren Ferrucci (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbons) and Lidia LoPorto (Troy, NY/Averill Park) added five kills apiece, while sophomore outside hitter Amelia Taylor (Fort Edward, NY/Fort Edward) added five kills.
Sage's Liebig and Berard both earned All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performances on the weekend.
