Chicopee, MA--The Sage College's women's volleyball opened the 2012 season on Friday night competing at the Third Annual Elms College Blazer Invitational.

The Gators posted a 3-0 win over SUNY-Cobleskill (25-15, 25-20, 25-23) and followed up their victory with a 3-0 win over Albertus Magnus College (25-13, 25-18, 25-18). Sage, which stands at 2-0 on the season, wraps play at the tournament on Saturday at noon facing the tournament host, Elms College.

Against the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill, Sage's pair of rookie twin sisters, Kera and Kelsey Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horsehead) combined to lead the Gator offense. Kelsey tallied a team-leading seven kills, while Kera added six kills.  Sophomore co-captain Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) led the team with her 15 digs, while junior co-captain Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 22 setting assists with 13 digs.

Rookie middle hitter Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga) added 11 digs with a pair of blocks in the outing in her collegiate debut. Sophomore Jilllian Schwab (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville Manlius) had four serving aces with 8 digs in the match. She had just one receiving error in 23 attempts for a .957 reception percentage in the action.

In the nightcap, the Gators were paced by the play of freshman Morgan Robinson's (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) 11 kills, while Schwab netted 8 kills in the match. Cooney added 27 setting assists, while Drollette led the Gators with her 21 digs. Kera Ray had five serving aces, with six digs and three kills.
