Sage volleyball jumps all over Purchase in 3-0 win

Purchase, NY--The Sage College's women's volleyball team spoiled the senior night for their hosts, the Panthers of Purchase College. The Gators tallied a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-15, 25-22) en route to the Skyline Conference victory as they improve to 9-15 overall and 2-2 in the league. Purchase drops to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Reining Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, freshman outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) connected on her fourth straight double-double as she had 15 kills with 11 digs.

Freshman middle hitter Stacey Forte (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood) added five aces for the Gators, while senior libero, Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) racked up 14 digs in the match and now has 1,518 career digs.

Sage's sophomore setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) finished the night with 27 setting assists. Cooney now has 582 setting assists on the season, elevating her career number to 1,130 which is sixth best at Sage.

Freshman Jillian Schwab (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) added eight kills for the Gators in the contest.

Sage returns to action on October 8 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference tri-match that also features Farmingdale State College. Action commences at noon for the Gators on Saturday.
