New Paltz proves to be too much for the Gators

New Paltz, NY-- The Sage College's women's volleyball team travelled to SUNY-New Paltz for a non-conference match on Wednesday evening. The Hawks tallied the 3-0 win beating Sage (25-3, 25-15, 25-16). New Paltz improves to 11-7 on the fall, while the Gators drop to 8-10.

Pacing the Gators was sophomore setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) as she finished with 12 setting assists in the contest. She is poised to become just the seventh player in program history to hand out 1,000 setting assists as she now has 993. She added six digs in the match as well.

Sage's rookie outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) connected on 14 digs with four kills and a block. Sage's senior libero, Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) racked up 13 digs in the match, while rookie middle hitter Rebekah Parker (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) added four kills.

Sage returns to action on Friday and Saturday, September 30 and October 1 competing at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.
