Ivery sets school record at Springfield Indoor Opener in 600 meter run

Springfield, MA – Russell Sage College men's and women's indoor track and field team opened the new season on Saturday, competing at Springfield College. The Gators finished in seventh place with 10 points on the day and marked the debut of rookie coach Regan Grube. Among the many highlights from the day both the women's program borke a school record at the event.

Women's

In the 600 meter run, sophomore Crystal Ivery (Cairo, NY/Cairo-Durham) was eighth with her time of 1:59.95, shattering the school record set in 2021 by Katherine Florian (2:13.21). RSC's Charissa Losee finished right behind her taking ninth in 2:14.06.

Junior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) ran the one mile run and was seventh with her time of 5:55.77.

Newcomer Ashley Rabbitt (Glenville, NY) posted a throw of 7.61 meters in the shot put and was 16th. In the shot put she was 13th with a mark of 7.12 meters.

Junior Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added a leap of 3.61 meters to finish in ninth in the long jump and also posted a time of 34.23 to take home 25st place. Junior Hethar Scutt (Acramdale, NY/Taconic Hills) ran in the 1,000 meter run taking home 10th place in 5:12.94.

Rookie Alexius Smith (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) finished in fifth place in the long jump with her leap of 4.49 meters, while she added a performance of 9.56 in the triple jump to take home ninth place.

Sophomore Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston)  finished in sixth in the 3,000 meter run in 11:23.59.

In the women's 4 x 400 meter relay, the Gators were ninth in 5:21.48 as Ivery, Losee, Scutt and Feeney raced for RSC.

RSC will take to the track again next Saturday, December 10 when they visit Utica University for the Pioneer Invitational.
