RSC women wrap Empire 8 Championship; Post 2 school records with AARTFC Qualifying Mark

UTICA, NY –  The Gator women's indoor track and field team wrapped up competition at the  2022 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Utica University. By meet's end, RSC's women's team had established four school records as well as a qualifying performance for the 2022 AARTFC meet.

Senior Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) turned in a school record time of 26.45 as she finished in fifth place in the 200 meter dash. Also a qualifying time for the upcoming AARTFC next weekend at Nazareth College, Ricci broke her own school record time in the race that had stood at 26.52 from a meet two weeks. She was also seventh in the 60 meter dash in 8.16.

RSC's women finished in fifth in the 4 x 400 relay with a school record performance of 4:22.29.  On the relay for the Gators were rookie Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central), junior Julia Gerringer (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington), sophomore co-captain Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central), and sophomore co-captain Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties).  Together they shattered the previous record of 4:26.13 set earlier this month.

Feeney finished in seventh place in the 800 meter run in 2:28.14, while Cronin picked up 11th place in the 3,000 meter run in 11:24.71.

Also running in the 200 meter dash for the Gators were Gerringer and Geesler who finished in 12th and 14th place, respectively with time of 27.6 and 28.04.

Next up for the Gators is the 2022 All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships hosted by Nazareth College on March 3-4.
