Record-setting day for RSC Women's Track Team at Opening Day of E8 Championship

UTICA, NY –  Russell Sage College's women's indoor track and field team opened up competition on Friday at the 2022 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Utica University. RSC broke a pair of school records on the first day of the two-day championship.

Sophomore co-captain Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) broke her own school record in the mile run as she finished in fifth place with a time of 5:29.83, bettering her mark of 5:39.73 set last week.

Rookie Alyssa McClurg (Cropseyville, NY/Tamarac) broke another school record as she posted a leap of 4.56 meters and finished in 14th place. She bettered her own mark of 4.41 meters from a meet at Utica earlier this month.

In the 400 meter run, rookie Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) had a strong finish taking sixth place in 1:02.08, while newcomer Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) turned in the time of 20:37.18 while running in the 5,000 meter run to take 12th.

Senior Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) posted the seventh fastest time of 8.23 in the trials of the 60 meter dash to advance to Saturday's finals. Geesler recorded time of 8.55 in the trials but did not qualify for the finals.

Newcomer Merideth Diegel (Albany, NY/Colonie) posted a time of 11.18 in the 60 meter hurdles but did not qualify for the finals.

The Empire 8 Championship wraps on Saturday at 10 a.m.
