Two school records set as RSC Women's Track Team competes at Utica Meet

Utica, NY — The Russell Sage College women's indoor track and field squad competed on Saturday at the Utica College Blue and Orange Meet. The Gators continue to establish school records with each passing week as they set six more school records on Saturday. The Gator women's program broke two school records at the meet. RSC's women's team finished in a tie for tenth place in a field of 16 teams as Division I UMass-Amherst won the team scoring with their 167 points.  

Sophomore Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) posted an 8th place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:38.00 to break her own school record (2:28.18) set last spring at the Utica Indoor Meet (March 12, 2021).

Rookie Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) finished in ninth place in the 400 meter run in a school record time of 1:04.31, bettering the mark set last year by Skylar Grybos (1:05.74). Geesler led the way for the Gators in the 200 meter run as she was 21st in 28.93.

Sophomore Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) picked up a fourth place showing in the 3,000 meter run with her time of 11:34.21.  Rookie Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) finished in seventh in the race in 12:05.75.

Also running in the 200 meter dash, junior Julia Gerringer (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) posted a time of 29.78 and was 28th, while junior Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had a time of 30.73 and was 37th. Rookie Merideth Diegel (Albany, NY/Colonie) posted a time of 32.15 to take 39th place.

Diegel posted a mark of 11.42 to finish in 23rd place in the 60 meter hurdles. In the 60 meter dash, Gerringer led the Gators taking 15th in 8.61.  Rookie Alyssa McClurg (Cropseyville, NY/Tamarac) was next with a time of 8.83 to finish in 24th, while Fitzgerald picked up 29th place in 9.13.  Sophomore Jasmine Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) had a time of 9.27 to take 32nd place, while sophomore Anna Breidenbach (Monson, MA/Monson) took 33rd place in 9.28.

Zollman took home 22nd in the long jump with a mark of 3.80 meters, while rookie Madalyn Walsh (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) had a toss of 7.36 meters to take 30th in the weight toss.

RSC is back in action on February 5 travelling to Utica College once again to compete in the Pioneer Invitational next Saturday.
