RSC Women's Track Team shines at First Outdoor Meet

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College women's outdoor and field program competed in their first meet of the 2021 season as they competed in a tri-meet with Albany College of Pharmacy and the College of Saint Rose.

A non-team scored meet, the Gators had a number of impressive performances.

In the 400 meter dash, rookie Skylar Grybos (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) was first in 1:04.60.  Sophomore Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) won the 5,000 meter run in 20:49.50. Rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) won the 1,500 meter in 5:16.76.

In the 4 x 100 relay, the Gators were first in 54.45 as rookies Victoria Johnson (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh), Sarah Masse (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), sophomore Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), and rookie Jasmine Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) combined to post the win. The foursome of rookies Anna Breidenbach (Monson, MA/Monson), Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville), Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), and Fiona Mulligan (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) were third as well in 1:00.22.

Sage was also first in the women's 4 x 400 relay as Grybos, Feeney, junior Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), and Masse posted a time of 4:39.37 to win the event.

Johnson took home second in the 100 meter dash in 13.78, while Fitzgerald took third in 14.14 and Breidenbach took sixth in 15.11.  In the 200 meter dash Johnson led the Gators picking up fourth in 28.75 just ahead of Fitzgerald in fifth in 29.54. Zollman was next in sixth in 29.94 and Masse took seventh in 30.16.

In the 800 meter run, senior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) was second in 2:50.00. In the 1,500 meter run rookie Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) took second behind her Gator teammate as she had a time of 5:19.52 and Gile picked up third in 5:51.28.

Johnson won the high jump with her mark of 1.32 meters, while Capparello took second with a mark of 18.83 in the 100 meter hurdles. Zollman and Johnson added third and fourth places respectively in the long jump with their leaps of 4.45 meters and 4.11 meter. In the triple jump, Johnson took home third with a mark of 9.58 meters and Zollman was fourth with a performance on 9.05 meters.

Carius won the javelin with her throw of 20.41 meters, while senior Claire Connolly (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) was second with a throw of 20.27 meters. Mulligan picked up third with a throw of 19.71 meters and Breidenbach was fourth with a throw of 17.42 meters. In the shot put, Carius was second with her throw of 10.87 meters. Mulligan picked up second in the discus with a throw of 26.01 meters. In the hammer toss, Carius was second with a throw of 29.22 meters and Mulligan took third with a throws of 22.35 meters.
