Skylar Van Alstyne

At Sage:

• Skylar Van Alstyne arrived at Sage in 2017 after attending LeMoyne College, where she earned Dean’s List honors.
• A newcomer to the Gators in women’s volleyball, she played in 47 sets with 19 kills, 18 digs and 14 total blocks. She connected for 14 setting assists with three aces in her 26 matches played in 2017.
• She is coming off a strong season on the hardwood, helping the volleyball team with her play. A starter in 21 matches, she added 80 kills with 47 digs, 62 total blocks and 118.0 points.

Academics at Sage:

• She is majoring in biology and pre-med at Sage.
• She is a Dean’s List student and was awarded the Nancy Slack Award for excellence in science at Sage.
• Van Alstyne earned recognition from the Empire 8 as she was named to the Presidents’ List in the spring and fall of 2018 for her academic prowess.
  

High School:

• She was a three-sport standout at Maple Hill High School, excelling in volleyball, track and field, and bowling.
• Named Patroon Conference MVP in volleyball and a Section 2 all-star as well as team captain.
• Earned First Team Patroon Conference honors in track and well as field MVP and a team captain for the throwing team.
• An accomplished student, she earned acclaim as well as numerous awards and scholarships for her excellence in sciences.

Personal:

• She is the daughter of Douglas and Ruth Van Alstyne.
• Her Mom won a gold medal at the Empire State Games in volleyball.
