A newcomer to Sage in 2016-2017, Joanna Tavolaro competed in the fall as a member of the Sage cross country team. Back in the spring of 2017 as a member of the Gator track and field teams, she competed in the pole vault.
In her first year on the track team, she set the school record in the triple jump while competing at the Capital District Championship in 2017 with a performance of 9.86 meters.
She added another school record in her first season setting the pole vault of 2.45 meters competing at the Mt. Holyoke Spring Fling in 2017.

Academics at Sage:
She is majoring in applied biology and pre-med at Sage. She was named to the 2016 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and earned a spot on the Dean’s List at Sage.
A year ago, she earned acclaim as a member of the Empire 8 Presidents’ List and was part of the women’s track and field team also honored for overall academic success as a team.
High School:
She was a three-sport athlete in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and served as team captain for all three teams.
She was a Foothills Council All-Star as well as a 2nd Team all-conference cross country all-star and was a two-time indoor champion in Section 2 Class C pole vault, while also winning a pair of outdoor titles.
Twice she was the indoor and outdoor leading scorer, while also penning her name to the school record in the indoor and outdoor pole vault.
