Logan Thayer saluted as Women's Track and Field Gator of the Year

Albany, NY—The Sage College's department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2016-2017 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. Sage saluted the Gator Award recipients in each sport and earning the honor in women's track and field was sophomore Logan Thayer (S. Glens Falls, NY/S. Glens Falls).

Head coach Jim Bowles said of Thayer, "Logan has developed into a team leader because of her work ethic and willingness to help others achieve both athletic and academic goals." Bowles added, "She has two more seasons at Sage and has the potential to achieve greatness as a Sage student-athlete and more importantly in her life beyond Sage."

Over the course of the spring, Thayer had an impressive 2017 campaign competing in the throwing events. She broke Sage's record in the discus not once but twice. The first time she broke the mark set last season by Madeline Herring of 26.69 as she posted a throw of 28.45 at the Mt. Holyoke Spring Fling. She capped her 2017 season by breaking her own mark at the Matthew Vassar Twighlight Meet at Vassar College with a toss of 28.78 meters and took home fourth place in the discus.
