Sage women's track team picks up 4th at Mt. Holyoke Spring Fling Meet

South Hadley, MA—Sage's women's track and field squad was in action on Saturday competing at the Mt. Holyoke College Spring Fling. Sage's women's team posted a fourth place finish in the team standings.

For the Sage women, senior Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) picked up a second place finish in the long jump with her leap of 4.65 meters.

Junior Sabrena Smith (Woodburne, VT/Tri-Valley Central) was fifth in both the long jump (4.42 meters) and the high jump (1.37 meters) and added a seventh place showing in the 100 meter hurdles in 19.37.

Sophomore Logan Thayer (S. Glens Falls, NY/S. Glens Falls) was the runner up in the discus with her toss of 28.45 meters. She shattered Sage's record set in 2016 by Madeline Herring (26.69 meters). She was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 23.30 meters and fourth in the shot put with her toss of 8.67 meters.

Rookie Joanna Tavolaro (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) was second in the pole vault with her leap of 2.45 meters, breaking the women's record in the process. The old record was 2.30 meters set by Hannah French in 2016. She was also third in the triple jump with a performance of 9.25 meters. She added an 8th place showing in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 19.72.

Sage was 4th in the 4 x 100 relay behind the fancy footwork of rookie Mikayla Culnan (Averill Park, NY/Columbia), Lambert, Smith and Tavolaro as they posted a time of 58.78 in the race.

Senior Kimberly Craft (Ellenville, NY/Ellenville) posted a toss of 7.99 meters to take fifth in the shot put.  Rookie Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) picked up 14th in the 1,500 meter run in 5:51.00, while senior Sharmise Pratt (New York, NY/Urban Assembly for Careers in Sports) was 23rd in the 200 meter run in 35.48.  Sophomore Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) picked up a sixth place showing in the 5,000 meter run in 23:30.29.

The Gators will be back in action on April 18 travelling to the Hamilton College Invitational, a meet that was snowed out back on March 26.
