Several Gators post significant times and marks as Sage competes at Vassar Meet

Poughkeepsie, NY –The Sage College's women's outdoor track and field team was in action on Friday night at the Matthew Vassar Twighlight Meet at Vassar College.

Freshman Sarah VanAernem (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) became the second female at Sage to win an event as she took first in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.20. She added an 8th place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.37 meters.

For the second straight week, senior Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) won the women's high jump with a school record performance, bettering last week's record setting mark of 1.59 meters as she posted a performance of 1.62 meters, improving upon her ECAC qualifying leap. She is now Sage's first two-time event winner for the young Gator program. She added a second place in the javelin with a throw of 30.51 meters and a second in the shot put (9.72 meters).

In the 200 meter dash sophomore Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) won the race in 27.05 to help the Gators on a record setting night. She was also a fourth place finisher in the 100 meters in 13.45. She also added a 5th in the long jump with her effort of 4.43 meters.

In the 400 meter hurdles, sophomore Sarah Montgomery (Gloversville, NY/Mayfield) picked up second with her time of 1:30.61, while finishing 9th in the javelin throw with her mark of 18.83 meters.

In the 100 meter dash, sophomore Kelly DiBiaso (Bristol, CT/Saint Paul Catholic) was 10th in 15.53, while taking 11th in the 200 meters in 33.79. She was also 9th in the high jump (1.32 meters) and 3rd in the long jump (4.54 meters).

Sophomore Sharmise Pratt (New York, NY/Urban Assembly for Careers in Sports) was 11th in the 100 meters (16.20), 12th in the 200 meters (34.87).

In the 1,500 meter run, Sage's sophomore Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) took 15th in 5:50.83, while junior Ellyn Fisher (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) took home 16th in 5:53.69. Freshman Samantha Phelps (Amsterdam, NY/Fonda Fultonville) collected 17th in the race in 5:53.84, while senior Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/RCS) picked up 19th in 5:57.70.

Rookie Samantha Mears (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) added a 7th in the 200 meter run in 30.78.
