Hilton, NY--58 Russell Sage College student-athletes were honored with the release of the Spring of 2022 Empire 8 Presidents' List. Additionally, eight Gator varsity programs were named to the Empire 8 All-Academic list for their combined efforts in the classroom.
Albany, NY—Russell Sage College’s department of athletics announced their award winners for the 2021-2022 academic year at the annual awards banquet. In addition to several honors bestowed for athletic and academic excellence, Sage also selected the Gator of the Year Award for the department’s 21 varsity sports for the 2021-2022 year. RSC’s rookie women’s tennis player Maddie Cherry was honored as the Female Rookie of the Year in an individual sport and also honored as the Female Athlete of the Year in an individual sport.
Albany, NY — Russell Sage College’s Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins announced the selection Michael Branche (Schenectady, NY/Colonie) as the head women’s tennis coach. Branche, who also serves as the assistant women’s basketball coach at RSC, joined the women’s basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2020.
Hilton, NY – Russell Sage College’s women’s tennis team was very represented with the release of the 2021 Empire 8 Women’s Tennis All-Conference Team. RSC’s rookie Maddie Cherry was honored as the Empire 8 Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year. In addition, she was also named to the Empire 8 Singles First Team as well as the Empire 8 Doubles Third Team.
Latham, NY – Russell Sage College’s women’s tennis team wrapped the busy week hosting Alfred University in an Empire 8 contest on Sunday. The Saxons collected a 7-2 win, while RSC’s rookie Maddie Cherry continues her perfect streak on the fall is now 6-0 in singles play.
Utica, NY – Russell Sage College’s women’s tennis team traveled to Utica College on Saturday for an Empire 8 contest. Utica slipped past the Gators, 5-4 to move to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. RSC is now 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Hilton, NY--Russell Sage College rookie women's tennis player Maddie Cherry (Las Vegas, NV/Odyssey Charter) earned Empire 8 Women's Tennis Player of the Week on September 20.
Oswego, NY – Russell Sage College’s women’s tennis team traveled to Oswego State for a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The host Lakers posted a 6-3 win to move to 2-6, while RSC is now 0-4 on the year.
Latham, NY—Russell Sage College's women's tennis team hosted the Spartans of Castleton University on Sunday afternoon in the team’s 2021-2022 season opener held at Tri-City Tennis Facility. The match marked the debut as well of the Gators’ interim head coach Allison Coleman. The Spartans posted a narrow 5-4 win over the Gators to improve to 2-0, while RSC drops to 0-1 on the young season.
