SAGE'S ABBEY CLOBRIDGE HONORED BY EMPIRE 8

Rochester, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team picked up another honor on the team's impressive 2019 season. Sage's senior Abbey Clobridge (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) was saluted as the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week.

Sage women's tennis team went 2-0 last week racking up a pair of Empire 8 victories as they beat Alfred University, 7-2 and Utica College, 8-1. Sage is now 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Empire 8 and riding a seven-match win streak.

Playing at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles, Clobridge picked up two wins at No. 1 singles this past week, while going 1-1 at No. 1 doubles. She is now 6-4 in singles action this year with a perfect 3-0 mark in the Empire 8.  On the year, Clobridge is 4-6 in doubles play. Overall on her Sage career, she 23-26 in singles action, while boasting a 22-27 mark in doubles competition.

Sage's head coach Tom Fashouer is in his sixth season as the women's tennis coach for the Gators as they are now in their second year as a member of the Empire 8. This coming week, Fashouer and his 2019 Gators are looking to tie a mark he set in 2017 with the team after they captured 10 wins, marking his personal best showing with the team.  The 10 wins, which ties the program's mark for the most wins in a season.  The 2008 teams set the record for most wins in a season after going 10-5 with a 7-2 record in the Skyline Conference. Sages 2017 Gators tied the record for most women's tennis wins in a season (10) which was set by the 2008 Gators that went 10-5 overall and 7-2 in the Skyline Conference.

Sage is back in action on October 5 facing the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College in Empire 8 play in a 1 p.m. match in Rochester, NY.
