SAGE'S WOMEN'S TENNIS TOPS MANHATTANVILE FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

 

Purchase, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team travelled to Manhattanville College on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference match with the Valiants. Sage tallied the 6-3 win to push their win streak to five matches as they are now 7-1 on the year. Manhattanville drops to 0-3 on the season.

 

Sage led 2-1 after doubles play as they earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 from the pairs of senior Rebecca Jackson (Saugerties, NY/John A. Coleman) and sophomore Taylor Gillespie (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville), 8-7.  With their win at No. 2 doubles, Jackson and Gillespie are 7-0 together this fall.

At third doubles, Sage's senior Alison Trudo (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) teamed with junior Molly Cochrane (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeysman) earned the 8-0 win and stand at 7-1 this season.

 

Sophomore Kaitlin Banks (Annapolis, MD/Mt. Anthony Union) added an exciting win at No. 4 singles for the Gators and clinched the victory for Sage with her 6-3, 6-0 score. Also posting singles wins for the Gators were Jackson at No. 2 singles, Trudo at No. 5 singles and Cochrane at No. 6 singles. Banks is now 5-2 in singles play this fall while Cochrane is 5-1 this fall.

 

Sage is back in action on September 28 hosting Empire 8 opponent Alfred University in a 1 p.m. Empire 8 match.
