Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team hosted the Golden Bears of Western New England University on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match. WNEU posted the 7-2 win to improve to 2-0 and gave the Gators their first loss of the season. Sage is now 2-1.

WNEU led 2-1 after doubles as senior Rebecca Jackson (Saugerties, NY/John A. Coleman) and sophomore Taylor Gillespie (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) earned a tight win at No. 2 doubles beating Jessica Cote (Groton, CT/Robert E. Fitch) and senior Rachel Bauer (Palmer, MA/Palmer), 8-7 (10-8).

The lone win in singles came from junior Molly Cochrane (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeysman) as she beat junior Sydney Lewis (Goffstown, NH/Gofftown Area), 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Next up Sage will be back in action on September 10 travelling to SUNY-Delhi for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
