Sadie Dunne tapped as Empire 8 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Rochester, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team opened the 2019 season on Saturday and with the release of the first Empire 8 performers of the week, the Gators continue to enjoy success on the tennis courts. Sage opened the season topping Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the first match of the 2019 season. The Gators posted a 9-0 win over MCLA and now stand at 1-0.

Sage's senior Sadie Dunn (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) has been selected as the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts in the match. She was a double-winner as she posted a winner at No. 3 singles besting Mackenna Jordan, 6-0, 6-0 and then teaming at No. 1 doubles with senior Abbey Clobridge (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park). The Gator duo posted an 8-1 win over Jordan and Brianna Higgins. With her win at No. 3 singles, Dunne had the decisive victory to give Sage the victory on opening day under head coach Tom Fashouer, now in his sixth season with the women's tennis program.

Next up Sage travels to Oswego State for a non-conference match on the road on September 7 at 1 p.m. before hosting Western New England University on September 8 at 1 p.m. in the team's home opener at Albany Academy Tennis Courts on Sunday.
