Albany, NY— The Sage Colleges' department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2018-2019 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 17 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2018-2019 Female and Male Rookies of the Year as well as the 2018-2019 Female and Male Athletes of the Year. Sage also selected the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average, as well as the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award.

Selected as the Gator of the Year in women's tennis was junior Rebecca Jackson (Saugerties, NY/John A. Coleman). In addition, Jackson was also inducted into Sage's Athletic Honor Society for her outstanding record in the classroom as well.

Head women's tennis coach Tom Fashouer said of Jackson, "Becca is one of the hardest working student-athletes that I have ever coached." He continued, "She excels on the tennis court, in the classroom and at everything else she does. This year she emerged as one of our team leaders. She challenged everyone around her to be better, and that is my favorite part of being her coach!"

Earlier during the 2018-2019 season, Jackson was honored with a selection to the 2018 Empire 8 Women's Tennis Sportswoman Team. She is a repeat honoree having earned the same honor in 2017. On her 2018 season, she played mostly at No. 2 singles and was 4-9 in the lineup. She had a banner season in doubles for the Gators and was 8-2 at No. 2 doubles with an impressive 5-2 record in Empire 8 matches.
