Rebecca Jackson named to Empire 8 Sportsmanship Team

Rochester, NY- The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced the 2017 Women's Tennis All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference's coaches. In addition, the Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year have been selected. Additionally, the league also announced the Sportsmanship Team.  Sage's sophomore Rebecca Jackson (Saugerties, NY/John A. Coleman) was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2017 Women's Tennis Sportswoman of the Year Team.  Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. 

On the 2017 season, Sage finished the year with an impressive 10-4 record, tying the mark for most wins in a season at Sage for women's tennis. A first-year member of the Empire 8, Sage just missed a berth into the league's tournament after posting a record of 4-4 in conference play. On the season, Jackson led the Gators with her 10-4 record at second singles.

Wrapping his fourth season as the women's tennis coach at Sage, Tom Fashouer guided the team to 10 wins in 2017, marking his personal best showing with the team.  With the team's standing in 2017, Sage collected 10 wins, which ties the program's mark for the most wins in a season.  The 2008 teams set the record for most wins in a season after going 10-5 with a 7-2 record in the Skyline Conference. Sages 2017 Gators tied the record for most women's tennis wins in a season (10) which was set by the 2008 Gators that went 10-5 overall and 7-2 in the Skyline Conference.
